The Lutheran Mission Society So. Md. Compassion Center
Provides the compassion of Christ through various services offered to the community in a mobile trailer such as discounted clothing and household items, leading worship and offering encouragement through counseling.
The Southern Maryland Compassion Center is a ministry of the Lutheran Mission Society in conjunction with Grace and two other Lutheran Churches in the area. The Center is open to serve anyone in the community. We have clothing for all ages—men, women and children; shoes; small household items—towels, sheets; small appliances; books and videos; and a few toys and games. Food is available on a case-by-case basis. Cash donations of $0.50 to $5.00 are requested for clothing and household items. If a visitor is unable to make a donation, clothing and household items are given to them.
We accept donations of gently used clothing, small household items, and books. Arrangements can be made if someone has larger items to donate.Volunteers are needed on Thursdays and Saturdays to accept and sort donations.
The Donation Center is open year-round on Thursdays and Saturdays from 10-12 for donation drop offs and 10-12 Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays when the trailer is at Grace. See the rotation schedule for 2017 to find out when we're in your neighborhood.
During bad weather, if community events and services are cancelled, the Center will also be closed.
