From Eternity to Here

From Eternity to Here

Passage: Romans 8:28-39

Preacher: Charles Long

Series: SUMMER SERMONS 2017

Category: Hope

Keywords: earth, election, eternity, glorification, grace, justification, predestination

Summary:

The words election and predestination are meant to comfort those who struggle. They are divine attributes--God's point of view in ETERNITY. HERE on earth, we experience election and predestination as calling to grace leading to justification and glory.

Detail:

From Eternity to Here

In Eternity, three inseparable and unchangeable divine attributes shaped our lives.

  • Foreknowledge (to know intellectually ahead of time) of history
  • Predestination (to set a prior boundary) to be conformed to Christ
  • Abundance (Christ is the first born among many)

Here on earth, we experience this shaping as Grace.

  • God calls us to grace (those he predestined, he also called)
  • He justifies us through grace (those he called, he also justified)
  • He glorifies us in grace (those he justified, he also glorified)

Since our lives were shaped in eternity, how then shall we live?

  • Without guilt
  • Without fear
  • Without worry
  • In Hope
  • In Victory
  • In Love
