The feeding of the 5000 is more than a miracle. It is a model for living a rich, full life.

The Feast of Life

Question: What is the best meal you ever ate?

The Feeding of the Five Thousand is the Feast of Life. Jesus…

Sees god's presence rather than our problems

  • Gathers people rather than sending them away
  • Sits people with familiar and unfamiliar people rather than sitting them with only people they know
  • Focuses upward rather than downward
  • Blesses rather than curses
  • The people shares rather than hoards
  • They are satisfied without complaining
  • They preserve rather than waste
The Communion Meal is similar...
  • The Lord’s Supper (Matthew 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:18-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-25)
  • The Washing of Feet (John 13)
Christian Living flows from the Communion Feast to the Feast in Heaven

Luke 14:15 (ESV) — 15 When one of those who reclined at table with him heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is everyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!”

Revelation 19:9 (ESV) — 9 And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
