Our Purpose: We exist to serve Jesus Christ, by developing the whole person to influence the world for Him.
Grace Lutheran Church was established in 1962, and founded Grace Lutheran School in 1974. Starting with just a Pre-School, elementary and middle school grades were added as the school grew and flourished. The Church has been located for 56 years one quarter mile east of the downtown LaPlata at the intersection of Charles Street/Route 6 and 488. A school was established a few years later and has been located on the same campus in LaPlata for over 44 years.
We provide our students with a Christian education enhanced with stimulating and challenging curricula within a warm and encouraging learning environment.
We seek to encourage children to embark upon a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and challenge them to develop academically, socially, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually as a unique child of God. It is to that end that religion classes are taught at all grade levels as a regular part of the curriculum. Grace has a tradition of outstanding academics that comply with Maryland state standards. Grace is accredited by the National Lutheran Schools Association and Middle States accreditation. Our teachers are experienced classroom teachers with degrees and/or certifications with an overall average of 12 years experience.
Grace is divided into three sections; pre-school, elementary, and middle school. The school is on a trimester calendar. Grace Lutheran’s school calendar closely aligns with that of the Charles County Public Schools.
We have just completed our 43rd year of ministering through Christian education in Southern Maryland and always strive to improve our programs.
Grace is accredited by National Lutheran Schools Accreditation as well as Middle States.
