This event provides the funds that are needed to make a difference in our community. Youth activities and scholarships are a fixture in the Rotary’s annual budget. Several years ago they pledged $25,000 over three years towards the building of the Hospice House in Waldorf. Years before that they made a substantial donation in terms of money and sweat labor to help Health Partners get off the ground. More recently they made a three year, $40,000 pledge to improve the Birthing Center at our local hospital.
The La Plata and the Waldorf Rotary clubs join together each year to purchase and deliver a first-rate dictionary/resource book to every third-grader in the county, both public and private schools.
