Lego Robotics Qualifier

The GLS Lego Lions robotics team is hosting our first ever CSM Lego Robotics Qualifier competition on Saturday, March 14th.

Timed to coincide with Pi Day (3/14/15), the event features ten teams from private, parochial and home schools qualifying for a spot in the Championship Tournament at the College of Southern Maryland on April 11th.

Grace Lutheran School will field two robots built by fourth and fifth grade students using Lego Mindstorms NXT kits. The theme of the challenge is "Nature's Fury", exploring ways to survive natural disasters from tsumamis to mud slides.

Jean Nelson, Ann and Daniel Stine are organizing the competition and need help from many volunteers to make the day a success. We need additional project judges, game referees, scorekeepers, field reseters and crowd control helpers.

If you are interested in STEM education, mentoring kids or just a very well organized person we need your help! Drop us a line at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to let us know your availability and interests.

Even if robotics isn't your thing come join us as a spectator, enjoy the celebration of irrational numbers and have a piece of pie!

Black History Month Event at GLS

Grace Lutheran School students made the local news recently when 4th grader Josiah Caballero invited Charles Co. Sheriff, Troy Berry, to the classroom for his Black History Month report.

Sheriff Berry is the first African American to hold the office of Sheriff in the county's 356 year history.

A crew from FOX-5 DC television visited GLS and aired a report on Josiah and Sheriff Berry on the local news.
